Ecological footprint
To ensure energy efficiency, each Renew screen is fitted with an adaptive brightness sensor..
Each digital display, at full brightness, consumes 210w of power which, for a 24 hour period,
equates to just over 5.0 kilowatt hours.
By using the adaptive brightness technology, turning the screens off at night and sending the
component into standby Renew saves 30% energy during a the summer day and 50% during a winter day.
Ecological footprint
Renew is designed to collect and segment street litter on routes of pedestrian traffic, where currently there is no recycling infrastructure.
By delivering recycling capabilities within an arms reach to the high street each Renew
unit is expected to collect 1.5 tonnes of recyclables (primarily paper) per annum.
This is critical in increasing recycling rates and helping reduce authorities’ carbon footprint.
Ecological footprint
1.0 tonne of materials used to manufacture a Renew unit of which more than 50% is composed of recycled materials.
The most common material in Renew, steel, is composed of 74.6% recycled steel.
All electronic components are recycled in compliance with the Waste Electrical and
Electronic Equipment regulations (WEEE).
Ecological footprint
The Renew network, and all its functions, are powered by wind turbines.
By working in partnership with wind farms, using an electric fleet and running energy efficient units, Renew ensures that minimal energy from a sustainable source is used in an optimal way.
